Adding Job Tracking Features to Project Management Software

A Project Management Software system can be an important aspect of any business where larger projects are manufactured. Whether it’s vehicles, roads and bridges, or ships or aircraft, each individual project can be broken down into its component parts for individual manufacture and testing within the Project Management Software. The manufacture of these components can then be rearranged at will as situations or even weather changes. The overall project can then also be either manually or programmatically adjusted on an as-needed basis.

Project Management Software, when developed as a module attached to a software “framework”, can be greatly through the addition of a second module encompassing what’s known as Job Tracking. When tied together in a system, the Project Management Software can drive data within the Job Tracking Software to provide further details about what’s going on with the project.

For example, in a road or bridge construction project the various layers of the road, from the roadbed to the laying of the steel reinforcement, to the pouring of the various layers of concrete, these can all be broken down into days, weeks or months within the Project Management Software. At the same time, workers can use the Job Tracking Software portion of the overall system to log their hours, record lot numbers and manufacturing dates of the various commercial materials, log the test data from the core samples of the cured roadway, and even log the positions and photos of the installed signage when complete.

From Job Tracking Software it’s easy to make the transition to Job Costing Software, where the data from Job Tracking is used to develop the final cost of the overall project via summary and detail reporting. A Project Management Software system is an excellent starting point for an overall system to ensure jobs are going as-planned and beyond.
